Woman accidentally drops artwork valued at R$ 217,000

This woman was an art collector, who thought the work was made of bladder.

The “Ballon Dog” sculpture, by sculptor Jeff Koons, was shaped and colored to intentionally imitate a bladder. In addition, the size was also consistent with the party balloons we see around, with a total of thirty-eight centimeters. However, it had a very important detail: it was very sensitive, since it was made of glass.

However, for this art collector, the information that pointed out that the work was made of glass was not enough to convince her. That's because she was so in doubt about the material of the sculpture that she decided to touch it. It was then that she managed the feat of knocking the work of art off a

platform of acrylic.

In moments, the sculpture turned into a bunch of shards, which surprised the other visitors to the museum. Some even report that they thought it was an artistic performance. However, upon discovering that it was a real accident, there was nothing left to do but deeply regret.

The work was valued at BRL 217 thousand

The work was valued at US$43,000, equivalent to R$217,000. However, it is not even one of the most expensive works by American artist Jeff Koons. It is even worth mentioning that Koons is the most expensive work of a living artist in the world, which is the Rabbit sculpture, sold for 91 million dollars.

However, “Ballon Dog” was Koons' most popular work, which was consecrated with the ballon style, in imitation of the balloons common at children's parties. Moreover, the work of Jeff Koons refers to the contemporary POP scene, so much so that he has already worked with big names in world pop culture, such as singer Lady Gaga and rapper Jay-Z.
