Two women from Goiás who were arrested in Germany after having their bags exchanged for luggage containing drugs, will remain in the custody of the Justice Department in Frankfurt.
This decision was taken at a hearing that took place this Wednesday (05), when the Brazilian women completed a month incarcerated in a female penitentiary in the German city.

According to the Office of International Affairs of Goiás, a German judge requested that the Ministry da Justiça and Itamaraty to send the evidence collected by the Federal Police during the investigation of the case.
The magistrate informed, during the course of the hearing session, that the Federal Police had already sent the inquiry through a customs attaché, who is a representative of Brazil in technical matters and negotiations international.
According to the German authorities responsible for the case, there is solid evidence that proves the innocence of the two women from Goiás. However, they still want access to all the videos collected by the Federal Police, as well as the complete investigation, which includes the arrest of those suspected of having switched luggage.
After the arrest of the Brazilian women, which took place on March 5, the Federal Police launched an investigation and found evidence that they were not transporting cocaine to Germany.
As the investigation progressed, the police discovered that contractors at the Airport Internacional de Guarulhos, in São Paulo, were changing the luggage labels to send drugs to the outside.
After a few more weeks of thorough investigation, authorities arrested, this Tuesday (4), six individuals suspected of committing the crimes.
The veterinarian and the personal trainer who were approached by the German police during the change of plane, would make a stopover in Frankfurt bound for Berlin.
The women from Goiás did not even see the bags that were seized by the police, in addition to having lost their own luggage, which have not been found so far.
Marcela Rodrigues, who is superintendent of the Federal Police in Goiás, also stated that there are indications that suggest that the Goiás women were not the owners of the suitcases containing cocaine.
“The suitcases they boarded contained less than 20 kg, while at the German airport 20 kg of drugs were found in each bag”, explained the delegate.
For Federal Police chief Rodrigo Teixeira, another proof that the two women from Goiás are not at fault in the case is the absence of what he called a “mule profile” in their behavior.
“There is no evidence that these passengers are mules, as they purchased tickets well in advance, had travel insurance and had carefully planned their trip abroad. It is not the profile of someone who traffics drugs in this way,” he said.
The investigation carried out by the Federal Police of Goiás will be forwarded to the police authorities in Frankfurt. The names of those arrested were not released by the police.
