Before doing anything else, it is essential to remember that there is no correct way to remove drool from okra. However, there are some guidelines to follow to help with the task of keeping the legume in good shape and avoid sabotaging the taste or the intended recipe. Check out some below!
1. Lemon juice
In this homemade recipe, you will need the following items: paper towel, a specific knife for cutting vegetables, 1 lemon juice, 500 g of okra, cutting board and plastic bowl. The first step is to cut off all the ends of the okra and place the vegetable in a bowl. After that, you must put the dose of lemon and wait for the substance to act for about 30 minutes.
In the end, you must remove all the okra and place it on top of the paper towel so that it dries. With this, you will have the vegetable ready to be used in your recipe.
2. Vinegar
Another way to remove slime from okra is to use vinegar and boiling water. For this, you will need: 1 kg of okra, 100 ml of vinegar, 1 liter of water and 1 large pot. So, you must put the water and vinegar in the pan to boil. After it starts bubbling, place the okra with the ends cut off.
You should leave the vegetables for about 4 minutes in the pan and carefully remove them. After that, the okra will be ready and dry to be cooked the way you prefer.
