Profession lesson plan

Profession it is the work or specialized activity that subjects carry out within society. Depending on the activity, the person who performs it has to specialize in order to obtain certain knowledge, whether propaedeutic or technical, to perform it professionally.

Professions are professional occupations of extreme value for the development of society. Every activity is fundamental for the functioning of the social enviroment.

Profession lesson plan

THEME: Professions

DURATION: 2 classes of 50 minutes each

GOALS:

  • Know the profession that the student wants to follow;
  • Talk about the activity that each profession performs;
  • Show the importance of all professions;
  • Develop memory, organization and creativity.

DIDACTIC RESOURCES:

  • School board;
  • Chalk or paintbrush;
  • Video;
  • To play the video: computer, TV, video projector, notebook;
  • White sheet;
  • Writing and colored pencils.

DEVELOPMENT

Class 1

Start the first class with the question: what do you want to be when you grow up? To get students to respond in an organized fashion, point row by row until everyone has said.

As they speak, write on the board. If there are any repeated professions, add numbers, chopsticks, stars, balls, whatever you want, to indicate how many times the word was said.

After everyone has spoken, ask if they know that these activities have a name, which is a profession. Say that profession is all specialized activity that is performed within society.

Once that's done, point to the professions the students said and ask if they know what they do.

Select a few people from the class to share how these professions work. Correct if necessary.

Then tell your story with the world of teaching. Tell it with a lot of joy and intonation, so that they feel involved.

That said, play the videos below:

Professions I:

Professions II:

Professions III:

At the end of the third video, point out that many professions are no longer mentioned. Ask students which profession they missed in the videos. It would be interesting if you already selected some that are missing.

After playing all the videos, ask what profession they didn't know existed and learned from the videos. Ask if anyone has changed their mind about the question at the beginning of class.

As a homework activity, ask them to interview the people they live with and ask the following questions:

  • What is your profession?
  • Which activity should you perform?
  • What activity do you most enjoy doing within your profession?
  • Have you always wanted to be _______________ since you were a kid?
  • If you could, would you change professions? Why?

During the class, name some existing professions:

  • caregiver
  • Airplane pilot
  • Scientist
  • Deliveryman
  • Mathematical
  • Soccer referee
  • Composer
  • Football player
  • Uber driver
  • Barber

Class 2

The first moment of the second class will be reserved for listening to the students' answers about the activity carried out in House.

Ask if they remember which professional works by asking people questions and if they enjoyed the experience.

The second moment will focus on carrying out an activity in the classroom. Ask them to produce a brief text about the profession they want to follow when they are adults and the reason for choosing it. Then, ask them to make a drawing that represents them performing this activity.
