When the 200 reais note was released, people were excited by the animal depicted on it. However, after a year and a half of its creation, many ask themselves: where are the R$ 200 bills? Some of them believe that they may be going out of circulation, but the Central Bank says nothing about it.
In September of last year, one year after launch, the BC announced that the circulation of any new ballot takes a relative amount of time, subject to demands from the population.
Thus, the Central Bank states that the rhythm of circulation of the 200 note will be inserted in the market as society needs more money. This is one way to control counterfeits.
As few people had contact with the note, criminals take advantage of this to forge them. In this way, the Federal Police created means by which it intends to control the distribution of counterfeit bills.
The PF initiative was to create a unit specialized in banknote counterfeiting. Therefore, its objective is to combat the production and distribution of counterfeit banknotes and to ensure that bona fide people do not fall for scams.
In this sense, the results are advantageous. In a short time of operation, the Police have already arrested several people who counterfeit banknotes. The estimated value is R$ 50 million in counterfeit money seized, including the 200 reais bills.
