The Electronic Sports League (ESL) surprised the gaming community by forbid in your eventsthe use of foam shoes, such as the famous Crocs, and similar models from other manufacturers.
According to the rule book of the competition, more precisely in section “4.3 Clothing”, Crocs were defined as open type shoes. As such, its use is not authorized during disputes.

The rules update now requires participating players and teams to wear identically colored uniforms, long pants, and closed-toe shoes during matches.
Despite the controversy, ESL emphasizes that the ban is not related to the fashion issue, but to the fact that shoes such as Crocs do not fit into the category of closed shoes, as they have holes and leave the heel exposed.
If the rule is violated, players caught wearing Crocs or foam shoes could face fines as low as $250. Players cannot start their matches until the outfit is replaced.
