Bulgaria welcomed the youngest pilot in the world to fly a plane around the globe

Last Wednesday, August 24, Bulgaria received the youngest pilot in the world, Mack Rutherford, aged 17, who flew solo around the world. His journey started about five months ago. The young man has dual Anglo-Belgian nationality and landed on a runway west of Sofia, with the aim of completing his mission and claiming two Guinness World Records.

Mack was born into a family of aviators, and received his first license in 2020, becoming the youngest pilot in the world aged 15. In addition to the titles of youngest pilot in the world and youngest person in the world to be able to fly around the planet alone, he is the youngest person to circumnavigate the planet using an airplane ultralight. Thus, the 17-year-old pilot hopes that his achievement may be inspiring other young people to pursue their dreams.

“Just follow what you dream, your age doesn't matter. Just work really hard at what you want and keep moving forward so you can achieve your goals”, was his comment after leaving the plane.

The young man's journey began on March 23, and since then he has passed through 52 countries on five different continents. He reached the age of 17 while traveling. For his achievement to be recognized by the Book of Records (Guinness World Records), he crossed the Equator twice.

Her route had been planned to last about three months, however, it lasted a little longer due to some obstacles that appeared along the way, such as heavy rains, sandstorms and much heat. However, the delay occurred, for the most part, when it came to obtaining the licenses and documents necessary for that he could fly, or even having to change the route that was scheduled, if they weren't accepted.
