The document can be made as soon as the animal turns three months old - or as soon as you adopt it, if it is older.

The RGA is important to make it easier for you to find your dog or cat in case of escape or theft. And the best part is that the process is very simple and free.
After completing it, you will have a digital RGA and an identification plate with the documentation number — this object must be placed on the animal's collar.
To issue the RGA, you will need:
Photo of the animal in jpeg or jpg digital format;
Guardian identification document with photo and CPF number;
Certificate of vaccination against rabies of the pet (must contain signature of the veterinarian or proof issued by the city hall);
Recent proof of address (issued within 90 days).
The following are accepted as proof of address: water, electricity, telephone or gas bills; bank, commercial or official correspondence; lease agreement for the property with notarized signature.
The documents may be in the name of the guardian or his/her spouse, as long as they are attached to the marriage certificate or declaration of stable union.
You can apply for the document in person or online. If you wish to request your animal's RGA in person, you must go to one of the service centers, by prior appointment on the portal or by telephone at the SP156 Telephone Center.
With the documents mentioned above in hand, you go to the service location. Don't worry about the photo, it will be emailed to you upon receipt. Upon completion, you will have a link to the RGA Digital and the identification plate.
However, if you wish to apply online, access the SP156 Service Portal. Before starting everything, make sure you have all the documents already scanned.
Log in and access the request form. After completing them, attach the required documents. Upon completion, your request will be forwarded to the responsible team.
You will follow the RGA request on the portal, in the “My Requests” tab.
After the approval analysis, you will receive the Animal General Registry link in your e-mail and you will have to attend a service square to remove the identification plate.
