This significant milestone was possible thanks to the inauguration of the Municipal School Professora Angelina Rodrigues do Nascimento, located in the beautiful Praia do Forte.
Now, kindergarten and elementary school students have the opportunity to spend at least seven hours at school, participating in sports, cultural and sustainable activities.
This initiative, which became a national public policy this week with the sanction of the Law 14.640/2023, establishing the Escola em Tempo Integral Program, received a significant investment from the federal government.
An amount of BRL 4 billion will be allocated to increase the number of full-time enrollments in basic education schools by 1 million by the end of 2023. The ambitious goal is to reach around 3.2 million enrollments by 2026.
According to the municipality's Secretary of Education, Alex Carvalho, the city will join the federal program that aims to qualify the offer of full-time education.
After the sanction of the law, the details of the program will be defined by a series of seminars that are being held in the five regions of the County.
The debates have already started this week in Cuiabá, broadcast live on YouTube, and bring up relevant discussions about full-time education.

It is worth noting that the municipality of Mata de São João has been investing in full-time education since 2010, with positive results.
“This decision is based on studies and research that were developed by the municipality, which pointed to education as a possibility to improve the quality of students' learning", says the secretary of Education.
Investment in full-time education has shown promising results, reflected in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb).
In 2021, Mata de São João obtained the best performance related to the initial years of elementary school, from 5th to 9th grade, in the metropolitan region.
In addition to the structures of the schools themselves, students in this city have the opportunity to experience learning in different environments.
The municipality of Mata de São João has been investing in transforming the city into a true educational territory.
Through trails and tours, students are taken to discover the exuberant nature of the region, in addition to inspiring projects, such as the Tamar and Baleia Jubarte projects.
the secretary of Education of the municipality highlights the importance of this work. “Our idea was to provide students with the opportunity to take advantage of all possible learning environments”, points out Carvalho.
“We show the history of our city, its relevance for the country and for the state. We want them (the students) to feel connected with the place where they live and understand the importance of environmental preservation”, adds the secretary.
