Dedicated exclusively to the maintenance and development of new vacancies for the expansion of the public early childhood education network, the Ministry of Education (MEC) published an ordinance in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU), this Monday (14), which allocates R$ 15,739,988.28 to 46 municipalities, with a view to creating new vacancies in this segment, in the public teaching.
The transfer of resources comes from the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valuation of Education Professionals (Fundeb), and takes place shortly after the release of a study, according to which three out of four children aged up to three years are excluded from the constitutional right to day care in the country.

The forecast is that the funds released by the federal government will create 3,194 places in daycare centers and preschools, of which 1,469 are reserved for part-time daycare centers; 438 full-time; 1,069 part-time and 218 full-time preschool places.
Municipalities in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Ceará, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio Grande do Sul, of Santa Catarina and São Paulo, which refer to municipal administrations that previously registered for vacancies through the Integrated Monitoring, Execution and Control System (Sismec).
According to the MEC schedule, the Education departments must receive the respective amounts, automatically, in a single installment, directly into the registered current account. Once the resources are received, it will be up to the municipalities to account for them, until June 30, 2024, to the Fundeb Council, through the Accountability Management System (SiGPC).
According to data from the last School Census 2022, the country currently has 74,400 day care centers, in which, of the total number of enrollments carried out for this level of education, 66.4% belong to the public network and 33.6% to the private sector – half of which have an agreement with the public education network childish.
