With his tie and badge, the feline exudes charm and helps explain matters such as diplomacy and the issuance of documents such as visas.

In this way, the animal appears at numerous specific times, demonstrating its service to the rest of the staff and “helping” with tasks.

Let's understand a little more about how the mascot became an honorary employee of the consulate!

The origin of the “Consul-Cat”

The mascot of the consulate “took office” in March of this year. According to workers at the site, he was promoted after Consul General Hiroaki Sano returned to Japan.

Since returning to the country, the animal has assumed the role, appearing in various posts and meetings and presenting different works from the local sectors.

“I am here continuing the work, representing the Consulate and talking and listening to people and, thus, successively expanding cooperation between Japan and the Northeast. And of course, in these meetings, I speak in Portuguese, but, unintentionally, sometimes a bit of 'gates' slips out", he warns with humor in a post on social networks.

In addition, the mascot is responsible for signing documents with its cute paws. These, which can be seen on different papers, such as Japanese certificates, are a great attraction for those who visit the place and know the feline.
