Have you ever stopped to listen to the sound of a hummingbird? Many people don't realize that this agile bird can also be loud. A hummingbird that has a repertoire of respect is the red-billed beetle, a hummingbird that can be found easily in urban areas, gardens and parks.
This charming hummingbird emits different types of vocalizations, whether in flight or still on the ground. It can be easily detected from the moment it emits any of these sounds. From the scientific name to the popular one, the little beetle, as it is also known, has striking characteristics, among them, the color of the beak and also of the feathers.
The species that does not exceed 10.5 cm has sexual dimorphism, that is, male and female differ in appearance. The male is more striking, showing a bright greenish color throughout the body and, in the lower region of the neck, the bluish color in different metallic tones draws attention. The female, in the same ventral part, is completely whitish. The red beak has a black detail at the tip. […]
