After much walking and running across the field, a certain deer went looking for some source where there were fresh and crystalline waters to quench its thirst.
It didn't take long to find a stream that, although very small, had clean and fresh water. Showing no hurry, he calmly bent down and began to sip the liquid he was looking for.
After quenching its thirst, the deer's attention was drawn to something it had never noticed before. He saw, mirrored in the surface waters of the small stream, its long, crooked legs that formed a sad contrast with its beautiful horns arranged in branches.
"It's quite true what people say about me," cried the stag. I surpass all others of my kind in grace and nobility! What majestic elegance can be seen when I gracefully raise my antlers! However, there is a sad and indisputable truth. Contrasting with that exuberance are my awful feet.
While, disgusted, he mocked and ironized the ugliness of his feet so crooked and ungainly, behold, he sees coming out of the forest, and coming towards him, a hungry lion...
In two firm, swift leaps, he placed himself beyond the enemy's reach.
However, in its hasty flight, the deer decided to go through a tight trail between the trees. He had not gone very far when he had his antlers caught in a thornbush, whose slender branches became entangled, forming a veritable trapdoor. He desperately struggled to free himself from there, but all efforts were in vain. The same lion overtook him, devouring him without compassion...
Thus, the feet that the animal so despised would save him, if the antlers he was so proud of did not cause him to perish.
