Species of crested hummingbird are distinguished by area of ​​occurrence and plumage

Because of the subtle differences, the birds were considered both a species and a subspecies until 2014..

With little more than eight centimeters of ___________________, the blue-crested hummingbird stands out for the colors of its plumage.

The bluish tone, which gives the species its name, is present on the crown and chest of the male and stands out among the gray plumage of the face, the white of the throat and the green mantle.

In females, however, the crown and mantle have golden tones, while the throat, chest and belly are less highlighted, with light colors.
