The owl butterfly only exists in South America. In general, it is very large, being among the largest in South America. It is the largest butterfly in Brazil, with a wingspan of up to 17 cm, that is, from the tip to the tip of the wings. Its habits are crepuscular: it remains perched on logs during the day and flies in the morning or in the last hours of the day, before dusk.
This species manages to get away from predators, thanks to its resemblance to a leaf. When threatened, it suddenly spreads its wings, revealing huge eyes, and rears its body. For its predator, the leaf turned into an owl, which is one of the biggest enemies of small animals.
