Aiming to ensure consumer safety, Apple is moving forward with a visionary project linked to security efforts in research related to theiPhone.
The project, known as the “Security Research Device Program” (SRDP), targets systems experts and educators specific to explore the device in the comfort of your homes.

The SRDP aims to make available a device called the Security Research Device (SRD), a hardware variant specially developed for the iPhone 14 Pro.
Such a device is designed exclusively for security research and comes complete with a range of tools and options that allow researchers to configure various layers of iOS security.
Researchers who obtain an SRD gain access to several functions essential to their security investigations:
Installing and running custom kernel caches: this enables these users to install and run custom kernel caches, providing an ability to run arbitrary code with broad rights, including platform and root privileges outside the sandbox;
Definition of NVRAM variables: they can define NVRAM variables, which is essential for deepening investigations into iOS security aspects;
Custom Firmware Installation and Booting: the ability to install and boot custom firmware for Secure Page Table Monitor (SPTM) and Trusted Execution Monitor (TXM), specially introduced in iOS 17, is made available to researchers. This is crucial for an in-depth analysis of operating system security.

To register for the program, interested parties must access the security page from Apple. Registration is open until October 31, 2023.
Additionally, to qualify for and participate in Apple's SRD program, you must meet some specific requirements:
Historic: Candidates must have a documented history of success in identifying and resolving security issues on Apple platforms or other modern operating systems and platforms. This demonstrates the need for expertise to effectively contribute to security research;
Majority: must be of legal age according to the jurisdiction in which they reside;
Presence in Apple: not have worked at the company in the last 12 months;
College-Level Educators: This year, the program is also aimed at university-level educators who want to use SRDs as a security teaching and research tool. Teachers and educators can request permission from multiple users to use devices in the classroom or laboratory;
Representation of companies or organizations: If you are registering on behalf of a company, university or other organization, you must be authorized to act on that entity's behalf.
Finally, it is worth noting that the program is only available to residents of one of these countries:
