Brazil's commitment to inclusive education was established 15 years ago, when the country gave amendment status constitutional to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, proposed by the United Nations (UN).

The plan was presented to members of the National Commission for Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education at a MEC meeting held in June.
Although the total investment values have not yet been confirmed, Décio Guimarães, Policy Director Special Education in Secadi's Inclusive Perspective, stated that the plan should be launched in the next weeks.
