Cosmic mystery: why isn't it possible to land rockets or take astronauts to Saturn?

Although space exploration is a very hot topic due to studies carried out on Mars, many wonder if the same could be carried out on Saturn. However, there is some scientific evidence that confirms that a ‘visit’ to the planet is impossible.

One of the main aspects that draw attention to the planet is its visual appearance, with several rings and a total of 145 moons identified to date. Therefore, many are intrigued about what could be found on a possible trip to the site.

However, there are some physical and chemical characteristics of the planet that prevent a visit to the site.

Let's check out a little more details about Saturn and understand why a visit to this giant would be impossible.

What are the main problems with trying to visit Saturn?

Although several conspiracy theories circulate on the internet about the subject, the real problem can be explained by the studies carried out to date.

In short, this is mainly due to the fact that Saturn is primarily composed of a combination of different gases. Therefore, there is no solid surface on which astronauts or spacecraft can position themselves.

In its entirety, the planet is made up of hydrogen and helium, with small traces of ice formed by water, methane and ammonia.

Furthermore, another point that ends up harming the visitation is the level of pressure exerted by Saturn's atmosphere, which could cause several problems for human beings.

In comparison, planet Earth has a pressure slightly lower than 1 bar, while the planet surrounded by rings has a pressure that exceeds 1 million bar.

Is it possible to reach Saturn?

Getting closer to the planet is possible and the feat has been previously accomplished by missions such as Pioneer 11 (1979) and Voyager 1 and 2 (1980).

However, getting closer to the planet can be harmful even for these ships, due to the gravity and pressure exerted on bodies close to the planet.

Furthermore, in Saturnwe have temperatures even higher than on Earth, which can make the visit of humans to the place even more unrealistic.

In any case, although we cannot easily get close to the “ringed planet”, there are ways to carry out studies on its formation. With this, we can obtain more information about this world and better understand its composition and behavior.
