Marina Colasanti

Marina Colasanti was born on September 26, 1937, in Asmara, Ethiopia. She lived her childhood in Africa. She then went to Italy, where she lived for 11 years. She arrived in Brazil in 1948, and her family settled in Rio de Janeiro, where she has lived ever since. Between 1952 and 1956, she studied painting with Catarina Baratelle; In 1958 she was already participating in several fine arts salons, such as the III Salão de Arte Moderna. In the following years, she worked as a periodical contributor, television presenter and screenwriter. She joined the

Brazilian newspaper in 1962, as editor of Caderno B. She worked as a chronicler, columnist and illustrator. She was also editor of the Children's Section of the same newspaper, where she worked for more than ten years.

She signed sections in the magazines: Sir, Facts & Photos, Claudia, among others. In 1976, she joined Editora Abril, and began writing for the magazine New. Later, she wrote chronicles for the magazine Headline and for the Brazilian newspaper. She was also a copywriter for an advertising agency in the 70s and 80s. His television career was successful. She worked as an interviewer and presenter on TV Rio, Tupi and TVE.

In 1968, she released her first book, Me alone; Since then, she has published more than 30 works, including children's and adult literature. In 1992, his first book of poetry came out, Each animal has its own whim. In 1994, she won the Jabuti Poetry Prize for Collision course (1993) and the Jabuti Children's or Youth Award for Ana Z, where are you going?. Her chronicles are collected in several books […]

She published several books of short stories, chronicles, poems and children's stories. […] In addition to these activities, she also worked as a translator from English, French and Italian. She is married to the writer and poet Affonso Romano de Sant’Anna with whom she had two daughters: Fabiana and Alessandra.
