The southwest of the country is experiencing a strong heat wave and animals are looking for solutions to cool off
With one paw resting on the edge, a bear looked quite comfortable as it cooled its furry body in a backyard pool in Southern California during a summer heat wave.
Burbank city police responding to a call found the unexpected visitor taking a refreshing dip. After a short bath, the bear climbed a wall and headed towards a tree.
They released a video of the animal in the residential neighborhood, which is about 10 miles north of Los Angeles, near the Verdugo Mountains.
Police warned residents about the need to keep all trash and food locked up to discourage bears from approaching their properties.
The unusual encounter comes as the state and the rest of the U.S. Southwest experience a prolonged period of highs temperatures, although there are signs that the scorching weather is starting to ease, with chances of cooling storms monsoon.
