All feline species are quite sleepy. To give you an idea, lions can sleep up to 20 hours on the same day. With domestic cats, this is no different. Of course, it depends a lot on the breed, whether it is male or female, the temperature of the environment and, mainly, the age (the older and younger people tend to sleep more).
Another curious behavior of cats is that they have nocturnal habits, that is, they stay awake at night and sleep during the day. This gives even more the impression that they are very sleepy, as we have the inverse habit, we are daytime animals. Wild cats are also nocturnal, with rare exceptions such as the cheetah.
It is noteworthy that cats do not have continuous sleep. They sleep with short breaks, waking up many times during the day. […]
