A peculiar trend has taken hold TikTok in recent days: images made by AI showing what some Brazilian cities would look like if they were completely abandoned by their residents.
The videos feature current urban landscapes, full of houses, buildings, tourist attractions and places busy, transforming them into dark landscapes of ghost towns, worthy of films like “I Am the Legend". See more!

Although it is not possible to precisely trace the origin of this trend or identify the first user to share these videos, it is a fact that they quickly multiplied on the social network.
Viewers compared the AI-generated images to scenes from series that explore dystopian realities, such as “The Walking Dead” and “The Last of Us”.

Although the technique behind these transformations and their authorship remain a mystery, the images began to flood the social network with short videos between the 23rd and 26th of September.
Most of these videos feature images that were apparently generated by AI software, including the likes of Midjourney and Leonardo. AI, among others.
One of the notable videos was shared by user @huiop less than a week ago and has already racked up over 7.4 million views.

The trend follows a common pattern, presenting a kind of comparison between well-known Brazilian cities and their “abandoned” counterparts.
Cities highlighted in the videos include Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Vila Velha, Natal and Goiânia, offering viewers an intriguing look at what these places would be like if civilization disappeared.
In addition to the AI mentioned, other tools and applications such as Bing Image Creator, CanvaAI and Starry AI (available for Android and iPhone) were suggested as options for create images similar, using text commands.
These programs generally work in the same way, allowing users to describe the desired image in detail so that the AI generates the corresponding photo in a matter of seconds.
To exemplify the process, the Leonardo application was tested. AI, available for iPhone (iOS), which allowed you to create an image based on a real photo. Users need to create an account on the platform, select “Generate” in the bottom menu and choose the “Image to Image” tab.
They then upload the base image and describe in detail what they want in the finished image in the “Prompt” section. The application generates four image options that can be shared or saved in the device's gallery.
Know that Leonardo. AI is only available in English, which requires knowledge so that commands are formulated in that language to make better use of the tool.
