According to the plan, the world's second largest economy has already achieved a computing capacity of 300 exaflops, as outlined by six government departments, including the influential regulator of cyberspace.

This would represent a significant increase compared to the current powers that China holds in terms of computing capacity.

China's first steps

The planned substantial increase in computing power, as disclosed by Chinese ministries, is justified by the need to support a wide range of applications in crucial sectors, including finance and education.

This boost in processing power is considered vital to sustaining the advancement of Artificial Intelligence. This technology requires significant resources, especially in terms of advanced semiconductors, to handle massive volumes of data.

According to Akshara Bassi, senior research analyst at Counterpoint, speaking to CNBC, investments announced reflect China's strategy to stimulate economic growth through leadership technological.

To conclude, Bassi indicated that China is directing its investments towards strengthening computational power, particularly in Artificial Intelligence.

This movement occurs in line with the large-scale launch of AI solutions by its main cloud service providers, targeting both consumers and companies.

Within this computational expansion initiative, China aims to focus on critical areas, including memory storage and network infrastructure for data transmission.

Furthermore, it plans to expand its data center infrastructure, further promoting its technological capacity on the global stage.
