OneDrive backtracks on storage consumption decision; know which

Recently, the OneDrive app sent an email to its users informing them of changes to its image storage policy.

According to the statement sent to the service's customers, if the same photo was saved in the gallery and in other albums created, it would consume individual storage quotas.

This way, if the image were on OneDrive, in addition to two other albums within the service, your file would take up three times more storage space.

The measure would serve to exhaust free quotas more quickly, forcing users to pay for more space on the service.

Obviously, the news did not please the clientele, who soon mobilized and sent dozens of complaints to the Microsoft, the brand that owns OneDrive.

With that, the company went public again, bringing news that pleased users of the cloud storage service.

OneDrive gives up on change

After so many complaints, the Redmond giant stated that the community's feedback was taken into account, a fact that would have made them withdraw from the measure that had been proposed. This way, the same photo, even if stored in different folders, will continue to only take up one space.

Before the decision was made (or decided not to make it), Microsoft tried to calm the community's spirits. The idea was that, to alleviate the situation, OneDrive would offer additional storage for a year to users.

This attempt to please those who use the cloud storage service was not enough, after all, not even the additional amount was specified. This was the decisive factor for them to withdraw from the new measure, considered abusive by many.

Original idea

As previously stated, if you have a photo in the gallery and add it to an album, the same file will take up twice as much space.

This, in itself, would be a big problem, even more so with the amount of photos in cell phone galleries. Users who work with photo editing, for example, would be greatly harmed.

Another problem that deserves to be highlighted is the Outlook, which stores your emails in the cloud. In other words, if you reach the OneDrive storage limit, which would happen quickly with the new measure, several email functions would be blocked.
