One heat wave in the Midwest region was alerted by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) last Friday (20), extending until this Monday (23).
According to the warning, the temperature could rise up to 5ºC above average, which the institute classifies as a “great danger” situation.

The Inmet system predicted that the heat wave it would affect the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and small parts of northern states, such as Tocantins, Rondônia and Pará.
Last Saturday (21), Cuiabá (MT) recorded a maximum temperature of 41ºC. During the weekend, Palmas (TO) reached 38ºC, Goiânia (GO) reached 36ºC and Campo Grande (MS) reached 35ºC.
Also according to Inmet, Brasília recorded 31ºC and, on Sunday (22), Cuiabá and Palmas continued with high temperatures, reaching 39ºC.
Brazil has been facing high temperatures since September, resulting in a significant increase in thermal levels in several parts of the country. Last month, São Paulo broke records, approaching 37ºC.
Experts attribute such episodes of extreme heat to the intensification of climate change, which has caused more extreme weather events across the country.
The week that begins promises to bring significant climate changes in numerous regions of Brazil, with emphasis on variations in rain conditions.

South
According to meteorological experts, a cold front will approach the south of the country on Monday (23), this brings the possibility of storms and significant volumes of rain to the state of Rio Grande do South. Such a forecast may be accompanied by strong winds, lightning and possible hail.
Between the center and west of Santa Catarina and the west of Paraná, rain showers are forecast, although with less intense accumulations.
On the other hand, in the north of Santa Catarina and in the center and east of Paraná, the climate is expected to remain stable and warm.
North East
In this region, the presence of a mass of dry air will have the effect of inhibiting the formation of instabilities, resulting in the predominance of firm weather in most of the region.
The rain will be punctual and isolated, with the possibility of occurrence predicted along the eastern strip and in the northwest of Maranhão.
Southeast
Just like in the Northeast, the Southeast will experience a mass of dry air that will generate a considerable reduction in the probability of rain.
Firm weather is expected to prevail, and temperatures will remain at high levels in the region.
North
Tropical instability will continue to influence the climate, which will lead to rain showers. These precipitations will be short-lived, with irregular distribution and variable intensities.
In some isolated areas of the states of Amazonas, Roraima and Pará, there is the possibility of experiencing more significant volumes of rain, along with the risk of storms.
Midwest
The forecast indicates brief and isolated rain showers, with relatively low rainfall accumulations.
In the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, producers must be vigilant regarding the risk of thunderstorms and winds, due to the proximity to an area of low atmospheric pressure in the interior of the continent.
Most of Goiás and the Federal District are expected to experience firm weather and temperatures elevated.
