Lasting three years, public projects will give priority to proposals that include indigenous peoples, fishermen crafts and other traditional communities, women, black people, children and adolescents, people with disabilities and people LGBTQIA+. As cross-cutting themes, the program also covers areas such as early childhood, human rights and innovation, through actions in all lines of action, to enhance results positive.
Among the requirements of the notice, it is worth highlighting the one in which projects will have to describe their contributions to achieving the goals established in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda (Organization of Nations United).
During the selection launch ceremony, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, in which he reaffirmed the company's commitment to society, in projects that make a difference in people's lives, the president of the state-owned company, Jean-Paul Prates, declared that “we are a Brazilian company, with proud of our roots, diverse and engaged with the country's development, seeking a more sustainable and inclusive future for the next generations.”
According to the oil company, the expectation is that, in the next four years, the venture will reach investments of up to R$1 billion, including all ongoing projects (more than 90 ongoing initiatives), relating to the Petrobras Program Socio-environmental.
According to the schedule, the second stage of selection is divided into two notices.
The first, which foresees investments of R$166 million, is part of the program's four lines of action:
Once the selection is completed, it is expected that 23 non-incentive projects (without any government support) will be approved, related to the Sports Incentive Law or deduction of amounts owed from ICMS (Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services).
In the second notice, the company will allocate R$53 million to education projects that receive tax incentives under the Sports Incentive Law.
In the first stage alone, announced in February, R$212 million were invested in projects in North, Northeast, Central-West and South regions, corresponding to 440 registered projects not encouraged. In total, 31 were approved and are already in the hiring process.
The largest region in the country, the Southeast will be included in the second stage, when qualification workshops will be held, open to those who have registered or not. In this case, the goal is to guide civil society organizations regarding good practices in the development of socio-environmental projects. For example, in the series of online workshops (Trilha Socioambiental), information will be provided on the main criteria for participation in the selection.
In addition to the inclusion of the Pantanal biome in the program – which consolidates the return of Petrobras' investment in conservation initiatives in all biomes and the expansion of socio-environmental activities, overcoming the limits of the communities where the company directly develops projects – two more initiatives were included:
