“Stilt” coin, one of the rarest examples in the 2016 Olympic Coins collection.

Proof coins are those examples that undergo an improved minting process. The aim of these coins is to highlight the details of the edition and ensure superior quality in other models. It is through them that it is possible to check the quality of the other copies that are being produced.

Therefore, to be able to identify a proof coin, it must have “PROVA” or the letter “P” written on one of its sides. In the case of R$1 coins that have this symbol, their sales value can reach R$30,000.
