A video recently released by a TikTok influencer went viral on social media. The girl in question complained about her stress and exhaustion after working 9am to 5pm, highlighting a common concern among young people regarding traditional company hours.
During the video, the young woman said: “I want to take a shower, have dinner and sleep. I also don't have the time or energy to prepare my dinner. Like, I don't have the energy to work out, like that's out the window. Like, I'm so upset. Nothing to do with my job, but 9am to 5pm in general is crazy.”
According to Washington Examiner editor Kaylee McGhee White, young people need to strive and work hard to achieve their goals and be professionally successful. The publisher also highlighted that the resistance of Generation Z in relation to traditional schedules started during the pandemic, when many of them started to study remotely.
During her appearance on Fox's Making Money, Kaylee told host Charles Payne the importance of developing a solid work ethic to ensure future success. Thus, the publisher pointed out that government policies, such as student loan debt forgiveness, can negatively influence young people's motivation to enter the market.
A survey recently released by ResumeBuilder showed that around 75% of managers and business leaders consider Generation Z to be the most challenging to work with. The statement was made in comparison with other generations.
Furthermore, half of the interviewees stated that they have difficulties due to a lack of effort, motivation, skills communication and technological skills of these young people. With this constant discussion about the challenges faced by Generation Z in the job market, it is possible identify a need to seek a balance between the expectations and others of young professionals and companies.
Finally, while young people are looking for flexible schedules and a lifestyle adapted to the digital age, companies must look for promote the development of traditional skills and values in the workplace to ensure the success of both parties.
