A Anatel established a new shift towards consumers with plans carrier postpaid of telephony. However, the General Consumer Law Regulation (RGC) states that, after the internet service is terminated, the operator will not be able to charge the consumer. Before the change, when consumers were late paying their plan, internet speeds were reduced.
Furthermore, the operator had the right to charge the full monthly fee during the suspension of the service offering. However, the new guideline will only come into effect after it is published in the Official Gazette of the Union. As soon as it is published, operators will already be authorized to suspend internet services for their defaulting customers.
Anatel informed that telephone operators have up to five days to send a notification to the consumer informing them of late payment. With the notification, the consumer now has 15 days to pay the ticket. If the 20 day period is exceeded, the internet provided will be interrupted.
However, even with the internet suspended, the customer will still have kept their cell phone number, receiving and sending calls and SMS to emergency services. Receiving calls and text messages, but only in the first 30 days after suspension of service. Finally, the consumer remains with access to the operator's call center.
