Currently, details on the availability of “Photo Stack” for devices beyond the Pixel 8 are limited. Based on previous releases of exclusive Google Photos features for Pixel devices, it is expected that the function will eventually be extended to other Android devices.
Additionally, recent tests indicated that the new functionality was not yet present in version 6.60 of Photos for Android. In the meantime, users can check out the demo of the feature, which was found in the Beta version code and released by a leaker.
In this version, it is possible to activate “Photo Stacking” using a three-dot icon and choose the main image in the group. Furthermore, the tool helps keep the library organized and makes it easier to identify repeated images.
It is worth mentioning that the Photos app, available on iOS devices, offers similar functionality for grouping Live Photos.
In addition to “Photo Stack”, Google Photos is launching a new video generator. This function uses artificial intelligence to select highlights from the gallery, such as trips or moments with specific people, and quickly creates a short vertical video.
