Do you want to earn R$100 thousand? Just find a flaw in Windows Defender

A Microsoft has just announced the reinforcement of its rewards program, which aims to monitor the security levels of Windows Defender, the company's native operating system antivirus.

Anyone who finds a flaw in the Defender system can win up to US$20,000, which is equivalent to approximately R$100,000 at the current rate.

How to receive this jackpot?

According to Microsoft, the maximum prize in the rewards program is intended for anyone who finds flaws in the Windows Defender remote access system.

This system has worried developers and technicians associated with antivirus, since flaws in it can be gateways for opportunistic cybercriminals.

Any user can try to find errors. When identifying a flaw, the person must create a report and submit it to Microsoft via the MSRC Researcher Portal. If the failure is confirmed, the person will be contacted to receive their prize.

Is Windows Defender safe?

Launched in 2009, Windows Defender is considered one of the best antiviruses in the world. Much of this prestige comes from the fact that it is fully integrated with Windows.

The program is automatically active, 24 hours a day, carrying out periodic scans completely free of charge.

The inclusion of antivirus in the Windows rewards program occurred in 2013, along with other programs such as Internet Explorer (now Microsoft Edge) and others. Recently, the company founded by Bill Gates included its AI assistant, Copilot, in the program.

According to Microsoft, so far, more than R$300,000 in rewards have been paid to users who discovered flaws in Windows programs.
