In a narrative that goes beyond the traditional tales of Disney, sisters Anna and Elsa emerged as the protagonists of a genuine and captivating love story.
“Frozen”, released in 2013, dared to explore a somewhat conventional dynamic for the animation studio, winning the hearts of children's audience with its powerful and engaging songs.

Despite the great success, Disney had other plans for the filming. The origin of Elsa, the Ice Queen, is very different from the warm version of what we know today.
Inspired by the short story “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen, Elsa was initially conceived as a character who would be cruel.
Since childhood, she showed signs of ruthlessness, rebelling against the social exclusion caused by her uncontrollable powers. Can't imagine Elsa like that? So, see with your own eyes!
In an early version, Elsa had a notably different aesthetic: spiky hair and a completely white dress.
Interestingly, the design was inspired by Amy Winehouse, but also had some similarities with familiar characters from the studio, such as Hades from the animation “Hercules” (1997).
The image below clearly depicts the plans that Disney had for the film. It's something completely different from what you might think:

In this initial idea, Elsa and Anna did not share the bond of sisters and it would not be as we idealized knowing the entire current narrative.
In the original plot, the Ice Queen intended to freeze the heroine's heart, seeking to take control of the kingdom.
Even when the studio decided to unite them as relatives, the essence of Elsa's character remains the same.
She would continue to harbor dark interests, living entangled in the web of envy towards Anna. Apparently, production plans were changed and a less scary way to portray Elsa was found.
