Moon will be covered by two types of shadow

A partial eclipse of the Moon, when the natural satellite will be covered by the Earth's shadow, can be seen this Saturday (28). According to the National Observatory, the phenomenon can be seen in the easternmost region of Brazil: in Ceará, Pernambuco, in Paraíba, Alagoas, Sergipe and Rio Grande do Norte and in part of Minas Gerais, Bahia, Maranhão and Piauí.

In this type of phenomenon, the Moon is covered by two types of shadows: the umbra, a dark shadow that does not receive light from the Sun, and the penumbra, the light shadow that still receives light from the Sun.

When the Moon enters the umbra, there is a partial eclipse. When it is completely immersed in the umbra, a total eclipse occurs. Anyone in the states mentioned above will have the opportunity to see a small portion of the Moon that will remain bite from the Earth, as the maximum coverage will be 6% and will occur during the birth of the satellite.

To observe the eclipse, the National Observatory recommends looking for places with good visibility to the east, as the Moon will rise with the eclipse in progress. […]

For those who cannot directly observe the phenomenon, the National Observatory will broadcast the eclipse in real time online, starting at 3pm.
