Nowadays people can communicate in different ways. So, we selected some media games and activities that can be worked on in the 2nd 3rd 4th year classroom. Also, they can be worked on in art classes as well. Follow the tips!

Plays with the Media

Activity Resources: Cordless Phone

  • Two aluminum cans (tomato paste, corn, peas, condensed milk)
  • Glue.
  • Gouache paint.
  • Barbate.

Step by step for activity:

  1. Punch a hole in the center of each can. (You can use a nail and hammer for this)
  2. Cut about 2 meters of the barb.
  3. Place them on the pierced ends of the can and tie a knot in the end.
  4. Each phone is used by a pair.
  5. Encourage the children to sit on opposite sides of the room and communicate.
  6. While one side speaks, the other listens.

Media Activities: Jornal da Escolinha

This activity is intended to show how newspapers were and are made. Working with art and distributing news. It can be made with images and with the children's own art and result in a beautiful exhibition.

Resources for the activity:

  • Kraft paper.
  • Marking pen.
  • A4 paper format.

Step by step for activity:

  1. Take the children on a tour of the school to gather information.
  2. Ask children to observe school events
    E.g.: "The vegetable bean plant was born"
    "Friday is the day to bring toys"
  3. If the children are not yet able to write, ask them to draw the observed news.
  4. Glue the artwork to the newspaper and make an exhibition.

Media Activities: Get the message across

When we don't have any means and written communication, we need to pass the messages through people, and as they say “Whoever tells a story, increases a point”. Sometimes messages don't arrive the same way they were delivered. This game is funny and important to see how messages can be changed for each recipient.

Step by step for activity:

  1. This activity is very simple: Gather the children in a long line, one next to the other.
  2. Choose a leader to start with, it may be by order of the queue.
  3. The leader chooses a phrase and speaks into the other person's ear.
  4. After that, he sits at the end of the row.
  5. Children need to pass on the information until it gets back to him.
  6. He tells you what the real information was and what information reached him.
