From 550 to 450 a. C., the Pythagorean era is established, characterized by great knowledge in elementary geometry, such as the Pythagorean theorem. The Pythagoreans were the first to analyze the notion of number and establish the correspondence relationships between arithmetic and geometry. They defined prime numbers, some progressions and the theory of proportions.
