In the past, most people worked as artisans or farmers and spent their entire lives in the same place. On the few occasions when it was necessary to travel, they used courier services, a service in that horse-drawn carriages carried passengers from place to place along roads bumpy. The rains hampered the trip and the groups were frequently assaulted.
Later, with the Industrial Revolution and the emergence of machines, it became necessary to find a quick way to transport manufactured products for delivery and sale in other cities. The first solution to this was to attach tracks to a gravel path, where horse-drawn carriages passed.
The new means of transport, however, was slow and limited. Therefore, engineers and builders focused on the development of a machine capable of replacing animals in this role. In 1804, the first steam locomotive train traveled between Liverpool and Manchester, England.
While many people were delighted with the new technology, others were doubtful about the benefits of the train and even fearful of the invention! They said, for example, that landscapes passing by the windows so quickly could make passengers lose their minds. Imagine if they saw the buses and planes we have today...
