I.Plurality of individuals and common goal: there needs to be more than one person in a group and there must be certain values, principles and goals that can unite the group members.
II. Social Interaction and Continuity: the members of the group interact with each other and these interactions between the group members need to be lasting, as in families, in a school, in a religious institution. etc.
III. Group Organization and Consciousness: there needs to be a certain order in the group and thoughts, ideas and feelings need to be shared by the group members.
IV.Objectivity and exteriority: the group is above the individual. Externality means that an individual's existence does not depend on his or her participation in the group.
