NAME:
The spider urgently needed to find a place to live, and so she walked the walls of the house she had entered, looking for a corner where she could shelter properly. Walked here, walked there, looked one way, looked the other, and was already feeling tired of so much to bang his leg without finding out what he wanted, when he decided to check the lock of a door.
She examined it carefully and carefully, first from the outside, then from the inside, and eventually came to the conclusion that she had finally found the ideal place. to hide, not only because it would be almost impossible for anyone to suspect that that metal hole had become a dwelling, but mainly due to the fact that the place allowed whoever lived in it, a wide and perfect view of everything that happened so much on one side of the door, as of another. Satisfied, the spider began to imagine:
– At the top of the door I can weave a well-worked web, where I will surely catch many flies; and also another one at the bottom, near the ground, which is where the little beetles walk. And here in the middle, right by the two entrances to my new house, a third trap, in which I'll manage to store a good supply of mosquitoes.
The spider was more than radiant with the lock she had just discovered, a veritable iron fortress, narrow and seemingly impregnable, and it gave her a sense of security such as she had never felt at any other time in the life. And she remained that way, lulled by the feeling of absolute confidence in the peaceful and comfortable future that fate had in store for her, when suddenly, she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
Frightened, the spider ran quickly to the bottom of the keyhole, not suspecting that the key was the rightful owner of the keyhole, and it was precisely she who had just arrived and been put in her place, expelling the invader from the dwelling she hadn't even managed to inaugurate.
Moral of the story: Nobody should entertain the idea that they can take over the things they already have an owner.
Based on a fable of the same name, by Leonardo da Vinci.
