Itching is a defense reaction of the body and serves as an alert, indicating that there is a problem in the itchy area of the skin. The cause can be an insect bite, an allergic reaction to drugs or food, skin irritation from contact with fabrics, dyes, creams or even the soap used to wash clothes. In addition, some diseases such as chickenpox and measles cause the formation of lumps on the skin, which also itch.
