Dogs and humans are genetically distant animals, that is, we have very different organisms and structures. But, in the history of evolution, we are contemporaries, that is, we have been together on the planet for at least 30,000 years.
Domestic dogs, scientifically called familiar kennels, belong to the family of canids, which is a group of carnivorous mammals with 38 species. Among all these different canine species, only dogs were actually domesticated and, in fact, they were the first living beings to be domesticated in the world - this happened even before the practice of agriculture.
The closest relatives of dogs are the gray wolves. The entire domestication process is believed to have started when the first wolves, or the common ancestor of the gray wolf and domestic dog, approached the places where humans lived. This approach must have been very slow, but, little by little, these animals were accepting the contact of human beings and vice versa.
