A municipality formed by two districts, Santana dos Montes is 130 km from Belo Horizonte, in the central region of Minas Gerais.
The grandiose colonial buildings attract tourists for their magnitude and makes the city also part of the Tourist Circuit Villas and Fazendas de Minas. Quiet, the municipality reserves in its mansions and farms listed by the IEPHA (State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais) many stories from the time of Portuguese rule and slaves.
The residents of Santana dos Montes still keep alive local traditions such as the Festa do Rosário, the Folia de Reis and the Congado. The Festa da Patroeira, affectionately called Senhora Santana by her countrymen, stirs every weekend in July, bringing musical performances ranging from baroque to serenades.
The city also preserves other cultural events with great fervor and joy. About the legend “Cidade Natureza”, Santana dos Montes lives up to its motto. Embraced by the Serra do Espinhaço, the city has waterfalls, streams and a diversity of exuberant fauna and flora, which seduces those who pass by.
Through its trails, horse or carriage rides delight tourists.
At the junction of the cerrado and the Atlantic Forest, the municipality offers harmony and comfort for those who want to rest.
