NAME:

The guitar

How did the guitar come about?

The most likely is that the guitar came from an Arabic instrument called a lute, used since 2000 BC. The lute would have been taken by Muslims to the Iberian Peninsula (currently Spain and Portugal), where it became an object of the nobility. Around the 12th century, in Spain, an instrument with three pairs of strings and the shape of an eight appeared. It produced a smooth sound and soon became successful in Europe. Later, the Portuguese realized that the Spanish guitar was similar to an instrument they called a viola, but a little bigger. That's why they called it the guitar.

The guitar, unlike the electric guitar, has the sound amplified through the speaker. Therefore, it is known as an acoustic instrument(…)

When we play the guitar strings, they vibrate, producing sound waves. This vibration is transmitted to the air. But the vibration is also transmitted from the strings to the speaker. This way, every time the strings vibrate, the speaker will also vibrate. As the area occupied by the snare drum is much larger than the area occupied by the strings, the snare drum moves a greater amount of air, amplifying the sound produced. There, the waves transmitted directly from the strings to the air join with those that came from the speaker into the air. That's when we hear the sound.(…)
