NAME:
I AM CARINE, THE LITTEST DAUGHTER OF A FAMILY OF FOUR PEOPLE. MY FATHER HAS A TRUCK ENGINE PARTS FACTORY, MY MOTHER IS A VETERINARY DOCTOR AND MY BROTHER, TIAGO LUÍS, IS THE MOST BORING TEENAGER I KNOW. IT LIVES MAKING ME NERVOUS: OTHERS PULLING MY PONY TAIL, OTHERS DRESSING LITTLE PAPERS WITH NICKNAMES ON MY BACK. ANOTHER DAY I WAS NOT ABLE TO FOCUS ON SCHOOL'S DUTIES SO MUCH THAT HE INTERRUPT ME. MARTA EVEN HAD TO CALL HIS ATTENTION:
– TIAGO, YOUR MOTHER IS COMING AROUND AND WILL CHARGE CARINE'S HOMEWORK. LEAVE HER RESOLUTED!
ONLY THEN HE WENT TO HIS ROOM AND WENT DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER, GIVING A LITTLE QUIETNESS. HOW WONDERFUL!
MINUTES LATER, MOM ARRIVED FROM THE CLINIC. HE KISSED MY HEAD, WAVED TO MARTA IN THE KITCHEN, AND WENT TO TAKE HIS USUAL BATH. HE LEFT IN A ROBE, WITH A TOWEL ROUNDED IN HER HAIR, COMING TO ME:
– NEWS AT HOME?
- NONE! – ANTICIPATED MARTA.
I LOOKED AT MARTA WITH A SURPRISE EYE.
MOM NOTICED AND ASKED:
– WHAT WAS DAUGHTER?
– THE USUAL, MOTHER. I DON'T KNOW WHEN JUNINHO IS GOING TO RIPE AND STOP HARRING ME. NOW YOU CALL ME CACAZINHA!
– IF YOU DON'T CARE WHAT HE SAYS DAUGHTER…
– MOTHER, BUT HE LIVES PULLING MY HAIR, BEING CUTE. SO, WHEN THAT COLLEAGUE OF HIS, THE RED HAIR, IS HERE, IT'S EVEN WORSE! IT SEEMS IT DOES EVERYTHING TO APPEAR.
– LOOK, CARINE, MOM HAD A REALLY TROUBLED DAY. I HAD SURGERY ON A CAT AND NOW I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE GOOD THINGS. HOW WAS AT SCHOOL TODAY, DAUGHTER?
- WAS GOOD! THE TEACHER DID NOT ATTEND THE CLASS TODAY AND REJANE STAYED WITH US. SHE GAVE A LOT OF HOMEWORK. I DID A LITTLE TODAY AND THE REMAINDER I WILL DO TOMORROW, VERY EARLY.
– SO, WAIT EVERYTHING AT YOUR DESK BECAUSE MARTA IS WANT TO SET THE TABLE FOR OUR DINNER. I'M REALLY HUNGRY TODAY.
– YOU WON'T WAIT FOR DAD?
– HIS FATHER TRAVELED EARLY TO SOLVE COMPANY BUSINESS. WILL RETURN TOMORROW IN THE AFTERNOON.
– OBA! CAN I SLEEP WITH YOU THEN? I promise to be careful with the baby. I STAY QUIET, NOT KICKING OR BUTTING HIM.
– IF IT IS, YOU CAN!
AFTER DINNER, I LAY IN BED, IN MY FATHER'S PLACE, AND WHILE I WAITED FOR MOM, I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE BABY THAT WAS ARRIVING. IN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF MAY WE WILL ALREADY HAVE NEWS. IT WAS JUST TWO MONTHS AND SOME DAYS TO TARCISIO'S ARRIVAL. MAYBE HE IS BORN ON THE SECOND SUNDAY IN MAY, MOTHER'S DAY. IT WILL BE THE GREATEST CHEAP IF MOM WIN THIS GIFT! I'M ANXIOUS AND I'M ONLY IMAGINING HIS LITTLE FACE. HOPE THAT, IN THE TIME OF ADOLESCENCE, HE DOESN'T BECOME A “BREAKER” LIKE JAMES. ALSO, UNTIL THEN I AM NO LONGER A CHILD AND I CAN EVEN HELP MOM EDUCATE YOU.
