Have you noticed that before going to bed the dogs go around the place several times? The animals have adapted to live with us in our homes, but they don't lose some natural characteristics when they lived in groups of other dogs or wolves, their ancestors. These little turns served to prevent them from thorns or dangers. Other signals that used to be for pack communication are used with humans: jumping on the owner, for example, is a demonstration that he rules the group. Licking is affection and reverence, a sign of respect. Baring your teeth lets you know you're mad, but you don't want to fight. You can understand, isn't it?
