bet, adverbial adjunct and adnominal adjunct

Classic works by Monteiro Lobato portray, in a fun way, the quest for knowledge
A corncob that comes to life, walks, talks and thinks like a human. Visconde de Sabugosa, character created by Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948), is, in the universe of Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, the representation of the scientist. Smart and curious, the corn on the cob has spent part of its life in a library. His knowledge only increased, and gradually he became a wise and creative inventor.
It is not only through Visconde, however, that science appears in the children's books by Lobato, an author of great importance in Brazilian Literature of the 20th century. Fascinated by science, the creator of the Sítio do Picapau Amarelo believed that the dissemination and teaching of science would be the best path for the country's development. “Science and art were born to live together”, he said.
Starred by characters such as Pedrinho, Narizinho, Dona Benta, Emília and Tia Nastácia, the stories from Sítio have two focuses: fiction makes the reader have fun and lets the imagination flow; the information seeks to show content from different areas of knowledge. In other words, it is possible to learn a lot from some of these books!
