The Fernando de Noronha archipelago, in Pernambuco, and the Atol das Rocas Biological Reserve, in Rio Grande do Norte, are the two islands. Brazilian Atlantic islands that, as they are home to many turtles, dolphins and several species of sea birds, have become heritage natural. In Noronha, the laws for preserving the environment are quite strict – one of them, for example, states that babies cannot be born in the archipelago, so that the population does not increase too much. Atol das Rocas is the first marine biological reserve in Brazil.
