Bother or annoy? How do you write

How do you write? Bother or annoy? It may look like it's the same thing, but the writing makes the resemblance a little different. from the verb "to disturb", the word has only one correct spelling. Despite the confusion for many people, only the “i” word is the correct form in the Portuguese language.

Annoy or annoy: which is the correct way?

Understand more about the use of the verb so as not to get confused between the two words:

To disturb

Being the only correct way to write the verb, it comes from the Latin word “incommodare”. Due to this origin, the use of the vowel “i” at the beginning of the word is explained. Thus, all words that derive from annoy must also be written with an “i”, never with an “e”.

It should always be used when referring to something that irritates, annoys, disturbs, causes some discomfort.

Check the conjugation of the word in the Present Indicative:

  • (I bother
  • (You) bother
  • (He) bothers
  • (we) bother
  • (you) bother
  • (they) bother

Now, follow some examples of the use of the verb:

  • Annoying someone is not on purpose, I apologize.
  • If not, can you give him a message?
  • I know this will bother me, but I'll leave it at that.
  • If it's to bother him, he'd better not bring the kids.
  • The sleepless nights of sleep are starting to bother me.

See also examples of words derived from “bother”:

  • It's too uncomfortable, but we'll get over it.
  • The annoyed to leave.
  • I feel very uncomfortable with that situation.

bother

This word does not exist in the Portuguese language. Therefore, it should never be used neither as a synonym for annoying nor in any other way.
