The person responsible for creating the children's day was the federal deputy Galdino do Vale Filho, in the 1920s. After being approved by the deputies, the date of October 12th was made official by President Arthur Bernardes, through the decree number 4867, of November 5th, 1924.
The date was only celebrated in the 1960s, when the Estrela Toys factory decided to make a promotion in conjunction with Johnson & Johnson, with the launch of "Semana do Menino Robusto" which aimed to increase sales sales. Soon after, other companies decided to create the Children's Week with the same purpose. The following year, toy manufacturers decided to choose a single day for the promotion.
From then on, October 12th became one of the most important dates of the year for the toy business.
