There is no vaccine against dengue. Cars called “smokers”, which pass through the streets scattering insecticides, are not indicated. They only kill the adult mosquitoes and in fact, they can hardly harm them. Other methods, like plug-in insecticides, aerosol sprays, or electric rackets also promise to do away with the disease's transmitter. But none of them can be efficient enough. Eliminating the numerous mosquitoes is a very difficult task.
Therefore, the best way to fight dengue is by eliminating mosquito breeding sites, places where they lay eggs and reproduce. O Aedes aegypti does not leave her eggs anywhere: the female deposits her eggs in moist parts of various containers that accumulate clean water. When they come into contact with water, the eggs hatch and give rise to larvae.
Can you imagine where these containers might be? Believe me, they are very close to you...
The mosquito that transmits dengue lives inside our homes, hidden under chairs, tables, closets, etc. Thus, the places they use to lay their eggs are also part of our homes: they are water tanks, barrels, potted plant dishes, pots, tanks, flower jars, cans, tires, roof gutters… All very close to the people. That's why we can all help fight mosquitoes.
