The idea of using silk to make fabric arose over four thousand years ago. Legend has it that the Chinese empress Si Ling Chi discovered the material's usefulness when she was drinking tea under a mulberry tree and a silkworm cocoon fell into her cup, revealing the thread. As important as the discovery was, the production of silk fabrics was kept secret by China for three thousand years, until the material became known in India.
Today, there are machines that unwind the silk thread from the cocoon automatically. And the most curious thing is that the silkworm gets along very well with people. In fact, after so many years since he was domesticated, he can no longer live independently in nature.
